Hessen tower
The Hessen tower, as the trademark of the town, is enthroned 475 m high above on the Niedenstein crown. Here one can see far beyond the connecting valley landscape up to the Kellerwald. Numerous circular hiking paths bring the visitor past legendary beech forests above the basalt hilltop of volcanic origin. Where the Hessian tower now stands once stood a castle for the protection of the old Hessian core country.
From Easter to October the tower is open, and on Sunday and public holidays food is served. Coffee and cake are served by the local Hessian Gebirgs- und Heimatverein.
