Hanau Fairytale Path

Eleven high-quality bronze and stone sculptures with fairy tale motifs decorate the Hanau City Centre and delight young and old visitors, locals and tourists alike!

They were inaugurated on the occasion of Wilhelm Grimm's 230th birthday (24 February 1786) and Ludwig Emil Grimm's 226th birthday (14 March 1790) in 2016.

A CD was also released, on which celebrities (including the former First Lady Daniela Schadt, the actor and comedian Bastian Pastewka, and Mayor Claus Kaminsky) read aloud Hanauer fairy tales.

In 2015, a nation-wide competition involving voting citizens was used to select the sculptures to further enhance Hanau's image as a Brothers Grimm town. The statues of the "Hanau Fairy Tales" once given to the Grimms by members of the Hassenpflug family could all be financed by private sponsors.
